The Heritage Guide to the Constitution: Now Avaliable Online

To help lawmakers and the public understand the Constitution and its meaning, in 2005 The Heritage Foundation published The Heritage Guide to the Constitution, a clause-by-clause analysis of our Founding Document.

This comprehensive resource is now available online in its entirety—for free.

In the Guide, each line of the Constitution is carefully analyzed by a leading scholar, with an explanation of both its original meaning and how we may have strayed from that meaning.

Lawmakers have heavily relied on The Heritage Guide to the Constitution  to help them understand and defend their roles and fulfill their responsibility to uphold the Constitution. For example, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) kept a copy of the Guide on his desk during Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s confirmation hearings.

This vital constitutional resource was released this week in an online format on constitutiononline.com so all Americans can easily access this cornerstone work.

“The Constitution of the United States has endured for over two centuries,” Heritage scholar and former Attorney General Edwin Meese explains. “It remains the object of reverence for nearly all Americans and an object of admiration by peoples around the world. William Gladstone was right in 1878 when he described the U.S. Constitution as ‘the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.’”

Mike Lee Introduces Budget Plan Based on Heritage’s ‘Saving the American Dream’

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has introduced a budget outline for the federal government based on The Heritage Foundation’s Saving the American Dream plan.

This “unprecedented” budget plan “directly confronts all of the major economic challenges our nation faces,” Heritage President Ed Feulner explains in today’s Morning Bell:

Recognizing that our nation has come to the point where we either change course or risk falling into permanent decline, Senator Lee’s “Saving the American Dream” budget resolution puts forth a framework for strengthening the core principles that make this country exceptional, namely:

  • Limiting the size and scope of the federal government
  • Reforming our entitlement programs so that they ensure real economic protection instead of unrealistic promises no government can sustain
  • Simplifying our complex federal tax code so Americans have greater opportunities to create lasting economic prosperity.

Lee’s plan is a strong blueprint for restraining and ultimately reducing our nation’s massive debt, cutting Washington’s out-of-control spending and above all restoring our nation’s economic prosperity. This is the only way that we can make sure future generations are not saddled with debt that keeps them from having the same opportunity of achieving the American Dream. WASHINGTON — Someone finally busted Rush Limbaugh.

On Monday, the right-wing radio host was inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians, meaning a bronze bust in his likeness will be placed in the state Capitol. Other Missourians who have received busts include Mark Twain, Harry Truman and Scott Joplin.

“This is something I never, ever considered would happen to me, Limbaugh said at the ceremony.

State House Speaker Steven Tilley (R-Perryville) chose Limbaugh, baseball legend Buck O’Neil and former slave Dred Scott for the distinction this year. The statues are commissioned using private funds.

Romney campaign releases response ad on Bain

Mitt Romney’s campaign is already up with a response to an attack from President Obama’s campaign on Romney’s time at Bain Capital.

Obama Team Tried to ‘Bribe’ Rev. Wright

The ‘Bribe’ To Silence Wright

When sermons of Obama’s Chicago pastor, Jeremiah Wright, surfaced during the Iowa primaries, it threatened to derail Obama’s campaign. ABC aired one where Wright screamed, “Goddamn America!” Edward Klein interviewed Wright, who told him Obama’s team tried to buy his silence.

‘Man, the media ate me alive,” Wright told me when we met in his office at Chicago’s Kwame Nkrumah Academy. “After the media went ballistic on me, I received an e-mail offering me money not to preach at all until the November presidential election.” Read more at nypost.com
